Have you recently updated to Mac OS Catalina to version 10.15.4 or Mojave version 10.14.6?
The Mac OS update causes Microsoft Word to crash if the Word user had certain add-ins installed. WordRake was one of the incompatible add-ins.
Go to this page and follow the instructions to install the latest version. In the meantime, if you need to, you can uninstall WordRake by going to:
Mac HD>Library>Application Support>WordRake>Uninstall and double-click the file located within.
